3 New Year's Resolutions For Your Salon + Spa

There’s something about a new year. A fresh start. A time to reflect on what worked and what didn’t, and evaluate what’s next. It’s the ideal time for change and renewal both at home and in your salon. So as you take that annual look inward, consider these 3 New Year’s resolutions that could help make 2019 your best year yet.

1.Visualize the plan

We’re just going to come right out and say it. If you haven’t already, commit to creating a marketing plan for your salon. If you have, then it’s time to re-evaluate it. This is hands down the best way to look at your business and what you need to do to take things to the next level. If you are more on the creative side, consider developing a vision board that highlights your resolutions. Everyone from celebrities to fashion designers use this technique to map out their business plans.

2. Communicate better

Having a good rapport with your staff can go a long way to a successful salon. Make effective communication a priority in 2019. Great leaders clearly and succinctly address everything from organizational skills to problem-solving in the salon by mastering all forms of communication, from one-on-one to group, to written. And remember, the key to good communication is actually listening...make yourself readily available to meet with your staff and commit to practicing active listening skills.

3. Focus on balance

As you know, this is not a typical 9-5, M-F business. This means either you or your staff are often working during normal “off” times such as weekends, evenings and holidays. To be successful (and help your staff be successful too), make time for activities you enjoy outside of work. In doing so, you’ll find your mind is more refreshed and your body is more energized.
