Be aware of harmful agentsJust like skin care, makeup can have harmful ingredients too! The FDA doesn’t regulate cosmetics, so it’s easy to deceive customers with claims that it’s “all natural” or “herbal.” Discuss ingredients to always avoid, like parabens, synthetic fragrances and mineral oil with clients. But even better, research a few brands you trust and share your favorites with clients!
Makeup removal is crucialIf you want to know how to wear makeup every day without breaking out, it’s not that big of a secret. In fact, it’s as simple as always removing it before bed! Sleeping while wearing a face of makeup allows the makeup to settle deeply in the pores, which enlarges them over time. While pores can bounce back during youth, pores don’t shrink back in size as easily as we age…educate your clients on its importance by removing makeup with cleansers before bedtime. Remember, your improvement as an esthetician can be counteracted by clients who don’t take care of their skin on their own.
